Only Up

Only Up is a continuous climbing platformer game. You control a character who jumps across floating objects to reach the highest point without falling.

Reflexes, spatial awareness, and patience are key components of gameplay.

Mechanisms of Gameplay

Climbing as high as possible is the player's sole goal. Falling means losing progress, and there's no way to go back.

Running, jumping, and changing direction are the primary mechanics. You must precisely time your jumps, determine your landing angles, and maintain balance on small objects.

Players must scale a variety of floating items:

• Commonplace objects
• Floating structures
• Small, hard-to-stand-on surfaces

Pathfinding

• To keep climbing, you need to find the shortest and safest route.
• Some paths are easy but long, while others are quick but risky. As you ascend, the items become smaller, and the gaps between them grow.
• The expanding viewpoint creates a sense of vertigo.

Challenges

• A slight miscalculation can lead to a fall of hundreds of meters.
• Falling is both frightening and tempting because it means losing progress.
• The game tests your patience and concentration, making it a brain game.

Although Only Up is simple in concept, it is very challenging and addictive.
